Eagle ¾Ã¾ÃÈȾ«Æ·ÊÓƵapp Sheriff’s Office investigating death of teenager as a homicide

Incident occurred Wednesday evening at Second Street Park in Gypsum

Eagle ¾Ã¾ÃÈȾ«Æ·ÊÓƵapp Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a juvenile fatality that occurred on Wednesday, April 24, just before 10 p.m.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office were dispatched to Second Street Park in Gypsum Wednesday for a reported disturbance involving several people, according to a release from Eagle ¾Ã¾ÃÈȾ«Æ·ÊÓƵapp Sheriff’s Office. The deputies found that multiple teenagers had been involved in an altercation and that during the incident, one teenager was seriously injured.

The juvenile suspect had fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival and the victim was transported for life-saving treatment. The victim later succumbed to their injuries.



The suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident and remains in police custody. This incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Eagle ¾Ã¾ÃÈȾ«Æ·ÊÓƵapp Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the incident and had no additional information to release at time of report.

At time of report, the Eagle ¾Ã¾ÃÈȾ«Æ·ÊÓƵapp Sheriff’s Office was unable to confirm the details shared on the GoFundMe page. “We are aware of a fundraising page but we are not associated with it and cannot confirm any details it might include,” said Ashley LaFleur, public information officer.

As of 6 p.m. Thursday, the GoFundMe page had raised $18,061 of its $10,000 goal.
