I grew up here in the Vail Valley and, after about six years living in New York City, I moved back to Colorado in 2021 and am happy to call it my forever home.

I’ve been a participant in the LG Tri about five times now and believe me when I tell you how special this event is. The team at Vail Valley Charitable Fund does an unbelievable job putting on this event every year and the volunteer participation in the event always makes me so proud to be a member of this amazing community.

The Tri was moved to the Siena Valley Club development in Gypsum last year after many years in Eagle and this was such a fun and welcome change! It is now an open-water swim as opposed to a pool swim, which is challenging and super fun. The bike ride up and down Valley Road followed by the 5k run around the Siena Valley Club development is so scenic, to the point where you forget that you’re even huffing and puffing. It’s an approachable race for people of all ages and athletic abilities and you can even do it as a team relay if that is more your style.

Not only is this event an absolute blast, but it is also for a great cause. The event is put on every year in memory of the beloved Laura Genelin, who was a long-time Vail resident, amazing wife, mom, and friend, and who was also an avid triathlete for a large part of her life. The Vail Valley Charitable Fund raises much-needed funds through this event’s entry fees and a silent auction that goes towards helping local families that are in medical crisis.

I look forward to this event every year and it truly is a highlight of my summer. Do not miss out on the opportunity to participate in the LG Tri this summer on Saturday, July 13 at the Siena Valley Club development — I promise you won’t regret it! Registration is open now at .
