West Vail Community Profile

Perhaps one of the most misunderstood areas of Vail, the question of West Vail is not what it is, but what it isn’t. Where does it start? Where does it end? Truthfully, West Vail encompasses a larger area than East Vail and both Vail Village and Lionshead. But it’s when you’re surrounded by the dense forests and meandering streets of this area that you truly feel the expansiveness of this neighborhood.

Perhaps it’s the fact that West Vail offers properties on both the northern and southern hillsides, both with its own attractive elements. While the northern side offers extended periods of sunshine and views of the resort, the southern side provides a verdant playground with meadows and lush alpine groves. West Vail is also home to shops and restaurants that are second-homes to locals and those-in-the-know; of course, the attractions of Lionshead and Vail Village are just a short drive or free bus ride away. 

 

Homes here range from condominiums to single family homes, some designed with as much character as the characters that built them. Micro-neighborhoods like Potato Patch and Red Sandstone hold stories from the dawn of Vail; others share their tales in whispers rather than shouts.
